NTNC Provides Wildlife Crime Scene Training in Gandaki Province

The National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC), under its Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), conducted a three-day training titled “Basic Patrol and Wildlife Crime Scene Procedures” from Poush 5 to Poush 7. This training marked the third event in an ongoing series aimed at enhancing capacity for combating wildlife crime in Nepal.

The program saw the participation of 21 representatives from divisional forest offices across various districts within the Gandaki Province. The training was designed to equip forest officers with essential skills in patrolling and handling wildlife crime scenes effectively, contributing to the broader effort of safeguarding Nepal’s biodiversity.

As part of NTNC’s commitment to conservation, the initiative aligns with the organization’s strategic goals to address illegal activities threatening wildlife. The training included both theoretical and practical sessions, focusing on key aspects of wildlife crime prevention, evidence collection, and ensuring proper documentation at crime scenes.

This continuous series of capacity-building events underscores NTNC’s proactive role in fostering collaboration among conservation stakeholders and strengthening the fight against wildlife crime. Such programs are crucial in protecting Nepal’s rich natural heritage and maintaining ecological balance in conservation areas like Annapurna.

NTNC aims to organize more such events in the future, further supporting the government’s efforts to combat wildlife crimes and promote sustainable conservation practices in the region.
