NTNC-ACAP Successfully Completes Waste Management Operation on Mardi Himal Trek

The NTNC (National Trust for Nature Conservation) Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) office in Lwang has successfully completed a waste collection, transportation, and management operation along the Mardi Himal trekking route.

In collaboration with the local ward office, Mardi Himal Trek Management and Entrepreneurs Committee, and other stakeholders, waste was collected from key locations including High Camp (Kyu), Humal, and Kokar. A total of 53 bags of waste were gathered from these trekking sites.

Additionally, 67 bags of glass, cans, and plastic waste were collected from Lwang Homestay Management and transported to Pokhara for proper disposal.

This initiative underscores NTNC-ACAP’s commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental conservation in the Annapurna region. The project not only helps maintain the pristine beauty of the Mardi Himal Trek but also raises awareness about responsible waste management among local communities and trekkers.

Such collaborative efforts between conservation agencies, local authorities, and trekking businesses play a vital role in preserving Nepal’s natural heritage and ensuring an eco-friendly trekking experience for visitors.
