One-Day Medical Emergencies Course Successfully Concludes

The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), in collaboration with the Italian Society of Medicine in Extreme Environments and Italian Alpine Rescue, successfully concluded a one-day Medical Emergencies course at its Secretariat in Nagpokhari, Naxal. The course, specifically designed for non-medical personnel, began on December 28 and concluded on December 29, 2024.

A total of 45 participants, including representatives from Nepal’s tourism sector, Nepal Police, and NMA staff, actively engaged in the training sessions. On the first day, 29 participants attended, while the second day saw 16 participants completing the program.

Dr. Giovanni Cappa, MD, an expert in Emergency Medicine, led the training sessions. Dr. Cappa, who is also the President of the Italian Society of Medicine in Extreme Environments and a member of Italian Alpine Rescue, shared his extensive knowledge and experience, equipping participants with vital skills to handle medical emergencies in extreme environments.

This initiative reflects the collaborative efforts to enhance the preparedness of individuals working in high-risk sectors, further strengthening Nepal’s capacity to address medical emergencies, particularly in tourism and mountaineering activities.
