Prime Minister Oli Expresses Commitment to Honor Climbers and Support Mountain Tourism

Honorable Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed a strong commitment to honoring record-holding climbers and supporting their welfare. During a meeting with the Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) and Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) President, Mr. Nima Nuru Sherpa, the Prime Minister lauded the significant contributions of climbers who risk their lives in the mountains to promote Nepal’s mountain tourism and bolster the country’s economy.

The Prime Minister also informally agreed to attend the 75th Annapurna Day ceremony, set to take place on June 3, 2025, at the International Mountain Museum (IMM) in Pokhara. This milestone event aims to celebrate Nepal’s mountaineering heritage and the contributions of climbers and tourism stakeholders.

Expressing his familiarity with the Nepal Mountaineering Association’s efforts, Prime Minister Oli acknowledged its role in promoting mountain tourism, conserving the mountain environment, and preserving the cultural heritage of mountain communities. He assured continued government support for the NMA’s initiatives.

The NMA has extended its heartfelt gratitude to the Honorable Prime Minister for his encouraging remarks and commitment to advancing Nepal’s mountaineering sector. This gesture underscores the government’s recognition of climbers’ pivotal role in promoting Nepal as a premier mountain tourism destination.
