The scenic Gavar Valley in Banke has seen a steady rise in tourists, prompting increased investment in the local hotel and homestay industry. To cater to the growing number of domestic and international visitors, community homestays in the area are undergoing significant upgrades, while new, well-equipped resorts are being established.
Keshav Prasad Chalise, the General Manager of Bisouni Greenery Resort, which was recently launched with an investment of NPR 120 million, emphasized that the resort aims to preserve local culture, traditions, and cuisine while promoting tourism. “We are focused on offering high-quality services, maintaining the cultural and geographical integrity of the area, and prioritizing organic food sourced locally,” Chalise stated. The resort features organic fish, poultry, and vegetable farms spread over five bighas of land, offering ostrich, duck, and local chicken farming along with fish ponds.
In addition to the luxury resorts, the Gavar Valley Community Homestay Management Committee is also working to upgrade its homestays to provide enhanced services. Chairman Krishna Chaudhary explained, “We are investing in our homestays to provide maximum comfort to domestic tourists and attract more international visitors.”
Bisouni Resort, located near Banke National Park’s buffer zone, offers various adventure activities, including jungle safaris by foot, car, horse, or bicycle. Visitors can also enjoy authentic local cuisine such as Marsi rice, Tharu community dishes, and snail delicacies.
The lush greenery, waterfalls, and aesthetically pleasing architectural designs of the resort buildings have become key attractions for visitors. Managing Director Upendra Kumar Shahi noted, “So far, we have invested NPR 120 million, and we are planning to add more structures.”
With the opening of the Bisouni Resort, Gavar Valley has seen an increase in tourist activity. Chalise remarked that the number of visitors, especially from nearby towns like Nepalgunj and Kohalpur, has been steadily rising, as more people come for day trips or overnight stays, boosting the local economy and strengthening the region’s reputation as a tourist hotspot.
The resort’s efforts are aligned with the broader goal of enhancing Banke’s tourism potential, making it a key player in promoting eco-friendly travel and cultural experiences in the region.
