The Sagarmatha National Park Office, Solukhumbu, has issued a public notice urging private helicopter companies operating in the park to conduct their flights, landings, and hovering activities safely and environmentally responsible.
In the notice released today, the office emphasized the importance of protecting the UNESCO-listed natural heritage site of Sagarmatha National Park from any harm while delivering aviation services.
The statement highlighted the critical role of Sagarmatha National Park in supporting both the national and local economies, as it attracts thousands of tourists from around the globe each year. The park is renowned for its natural beauty, including Mount Everest, pristine lakes, and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes.
The notice further stated, “Helicopter services provided in this region play a vital role in scenic tours, emergency rescues for tourists and locals, and transportation of construction materials, food supplies, and other essentials. Therefore, private helicopter companies operating in the park are requested to ensure their activities do not disrupt the park’s forest, wildlife, or biodiversity. Companies must operate with proper permissions from the park and adhere to prevailing laws to conduct their flights, landings, and hoverings safely.”
