Nestled in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-13, the vibrant and artistically designed Shram Sanskriti Park has become a popular attraction for both domestic and international tourists. Visitors are mesmerized by its beauty, with lush flowers and artistic structures enhancing the charm of Dharan.
Jayakumar Jimi, a visitor from Panchthar, expressed his amazement at the transformation of the area. “A few years ago, this place was filled with jungle, shrubs, and a stream. I never imagined it could turn into such a beautiful spot through voluntary efforts,” he said, adding that the park, now draped in flowers, left him exhilarated.
Hari Rai from Udayapur Gaighat shared a similar sentiment. “Seeing this place on social media was intriguing, but visiting in person makes it clear that Dharan has added a stunning destination,” he remarked.
Located six kilometers uphill from Bhanu Chowk, the park is surrounded by other attractions like SDB, Rock Garden, and a Children’s Park, all built through voluntary contributions. The area’s greenery and vibrant floral displays draw over 1,000 to 1,500 visitors daily, according to local hotel entrepreneur Suraj Gurung.
Sabita Rai, another hotelier, highlighted the park’s rising popularity. “Recently, tourists from Panchthar, Tehrathum, Dhankuta, Itahari, Morang, Jhapa, and even abroad have been visiting,” she said.
Adjacent to Shram Sanskriti Park are Osho Park and BP Park, both built through similar community-driven initiatives. Jayakumar Rai, a member of the House of Representatives, emphasized the need to integrate and promote all these parks to develop the area into a unified tourist destination.
Infrastructure upgrades have also contributed to the park’s accessibility. The previously unpaved road from Fusre Chowk to Osho Park has been blacktopped with an NPR 4 million budget from the provincial government, easing travel for visitors. Netra Kafle, chairperson of the ward, believes further development of the park will enhance its appeal as a top tourist spot.
Koshi Province Assembly member Ramesh Basnet echoed these sentiments, suggesting that the park’s management and promotion should focus on long-term sustainability to bolster its status as a premier tourist destination.
