Solar Panels Distributed to Livestock Farmers in Fungling Municipality

Livestock farmers in the Harkate area of Fungling Municipality-11 have been provided with solar panels to improve their shed management. This initiative aims to create a wildlife-friendly environment, assist farmers in better managing their sheds, and control stray dogs.

The solar panels were distributed through a collaboration between Red Panda Network and the Himalayan Conservation Forum. According to Ramesh Rai, the program coordinator, 11 solar panels, each worth NPR 13,000, were handed over to farmers associated with the Harkate Gopala Group on Saturday. The region is known as a habitat for red pandas, and the solar panels were distributed to protect these endangered animals from nighttime predation by other wildlife.

Santa Bahadur Bista, a local farmer, expressed his joy at receiving the solar panels. “For 65 years, we lived in darkness. Today, we are thrilled to finally have light in our sheds,” he said, highlighting the positive impact of the initiative.

This project not only supports the farmers but also contributes to the conservation of red pandas, promoting coexistence between humans and wildlife.
