TAAN Gandaki Welcomes New NTB Gandaki Director, Emphasizes Tourism Collaboration

The Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) Gandaki welcomed Maniraj Lamichhane, the newly appointed Director of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Gandaki Province Office. Along with him, Senior Officer Yubaraj Gurung and Accounts Officer Sagar Shrestha were also welcomed by TAAN Gandaki on Monday.

During the welcome and introductory event, Director Maniraj Lamichhane expressed his commitment to collaborating with TAAN to implement new plans for tourism promotion. He emphasized that sustainable tourism is only possible with proper management and long-term strategies, as Nepal holds immense potential in the tourism sector.

“We will work with TAAN and all tourism stakeholders to identify new tourist destinations, preserve and improve trekking routes, enhance digital promotion, and promote Nepal’s tourism internationally,” he said. “We are well aware of the challenges in the tourism sector, and we are committed to working hand in hand with TAAN Gandaki and all relevant bodies.”

TAAN Gandaki President Krishna Prasad Acharya highlighted the need for collaboration among all stakeholders to boost Nepal’s tourism industry. He stated, “For sustainable and prosperous tourism in Nepal, we need more than just promotion; a well-planned, long-term strategy is essential.” He stressed the importance of trekking, adventure sports, cultural tourism, rural tourism, and identifying new destinations for international promotion, adding that better coordination between NTB, TAAN, and other related organizations is necessary.

He also pointed out that tourism development is impossible without active participation from the private sector and urged the government to introduce supportive policies and assistance. TAAN First Vice President Tirtharaj Subedi emphasized that tourism promotion is not solely the government’s responsibility but also requires efforts from the private sector, local communities, and tourism entrepreneurs. He stated, “To promote tourism effectively, the government, tourism associations, local authorities, and stakeholders must all contribute.

We must work together to identify new destinations, integrate technology into tourism, and provide top-quality services to visitors. Tourism promotion is not just about increasing the number of tourists; it is also about creating an environment where they want to stay longer.” The program was held at the TAAN Gandaki Secretariat, Lakeside, and was conducted by TAAN Gandaki’s Joint Secretary, Bhupendra Kumar Lama. The event was attended by TAAN Gandaki officials and members.
