Tara Air is set to resume its Pokhara-Jomsom flight service on Tuesday, following a temporary halt due to adverse weather conditions. The airline announced the resumption of flights in a press statement, citing favorable weather and the upcoming tourist season as key factors.
Sudarshan Bartaula, Aviation Security Officer at Tara Air, explained that the aircraft will be stationed overnight in Pokhara to ensure smooth operations for the Pokhara-Jomsom route. The flights will be conducted from the old airport in Pokhara, providing a critical link for tourists and locals traveling to and from Jomsom, which is situated at 2,736 meters above sea level with a runway length of 739 meters.
In addition to the Pokhara-Jomsom flights, Tara Air has also unveiled plans to resume its Ramechhap-Lukla-Ramechhap flights starting September 20. This service is being reinstated to accommodate the anticipated influx of tourists to the Everest region as the post-monsoon tourist season begins.
Bartaula further shared that the airline plans to operate 10 to 15 daily flights from Manthali, Ramechhap, to Lukla using its two twin Otter airplanes. Lukla, often referred to as the Gateway to the Everest Region, serves as the entry point for trekkers and mountaineers aiming to explore the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest (Sagarmatha).
The resumption of these flights by Tara Air is expected to significantly boost accessibility to popular trekking destinations, enhancing the overall experience for tourists during the peak season.
