Test Flights Successfully Conducted at Tikapur Airport, Regular Flights to Begin Soon

Test flights were conducted at Tikapur Airport on Monday, marking a significant step towards resuming regular operations. Nepal Airlines’ aircraft 9N ABU and Tara Air’s 9N AEV performed successful test flights in the morning, raising hopes for immediate post-Tihar festival operations. Minister of State for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Arun Kumar Chaudhary, announced that following Tihar, regular flights would commence from Tikapur, with plans to extend services to airports in the hilly districts of Sudurpaschim Province.

The historic Tikapur Airport, initially inaugurated in 2041 BS, saw three years of regular service before flights were discontinued. The recent test flights included twelve key aviation professionals onboard, including Nepal Airlines Captain Manish Bista, NAC Manager Gyanendra Bhul, Engineer Samrat Pradhan, Air Traffic Controller Raju Mahato, and other NAC officials, alongside an air hostess and support staff.

The revival of Tikapur Airport is expected to improve connectivity and boost tourism and economic activities in the Sudurpaschim Province, providing locals and travelers with a convenient transportation option.
