Tulsipur Airport Takes Off Again: New Flights Bring Relief to Local Passengers

After a hiatus of three months, regular flight services have resumed at the Tulsipur-12 Airport in Dang, starting today. The services, now operated by Nepal Airlines, will see weekly flights every Monday. Station In-charge of Nepal Airlines, Bal Bahadur Sunar, confirmed that depending on passenger demand, more flights could be added in the future.

The airport’s flight services have faced repeated interruptions over the years, with the most recent disruption beginning on Poush 2. Prior to the resumption, passengers had to travel to Nepalgunj or Bhairahawa to catch flights, adding significant inconvenience to their journeys.

One of the main challenges at Tulsipur Airport has been its short runway, which is only 750 meters long. This limits the size of the aircraft that can land, and currently, only 19-seat aircraft are operational. Due to this limitation, flights have been irregular, forcing passengers to consider alternative travel routes to Nepalgunj or Bhairahawa.

There has been a long-standing call for the extension of the runway to accommodate larger aircraft and to make the flight services more consistent. The local community has voiced concerns over the necessity of upgrading the airport’s infrastructure to meet the growing demand for air travel in the region.
