The 11th meeting of the Valley Mayors’ Forum, held on Monday in the tourist area of Nagarkot, Bhaktapur, decided to support the success of the “Nagarkot Visit Year” campaign, which is set to begin on the 1st of Baisakh (mid-April), organized by Changunarayan Municipality.
The meeting, attended by the Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, provincial ministers, mayors, deputy mayors, and other representatives, emphasized the need for cooperation from all three levels of government to make the visit year successful.

Bagmati Province Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama expressed his commitment to providing the necessary support from the provincial government to ensure the success of the Nagarkot Visit Year. He highlighted the importance of regular discussions and collaboration with the Valley Mayors’ Forum.
Provincial Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Kundan Raj Kafle, pointed out that cooperation between local and provincial governments can lead to significant progress in many areas. He stressed the need for coordination and collaboration to make the visit year successful.

Provincial Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Suraj Chandra Lamichhane, stated that the provincial government would support the Nagarkot Visit Year, which aims to promote tourism in Nagarkot. He expressed confidence that tourism promotion would not only improve the living standards of citizens but also contribute to the country’s prosperity.
The meeting also decided to implement technology for testing vehicle emissions in the Kathmandu Valley and to manage hospital waste in the valley.

Discussions were held on financial transfers, revenue sharing, and inter-governmental coordination between the provincial and local governments. The meeting also agreed on cooperation and coordination between local, provincial, and federal governments.
Changunarayan Municipality Mayor Jeevan Khatri highlighted that the Mayors’ Forum provided an opportunity to promote the tourist destination of Nagarkot. He stated that the visit year is being organized to enhance tourism in the entire municipality. He also invited the Mayors’ Forum and the provincial government to actively support the initiative.

Changunarayan Deputy Mayor Ramesh Budhathoki emphasized that the Nagarkot Visit Year is not just for Changunarayan Municipality but also represents Bagmati Province and the country as a whole. He expressed confidence that extending tourists’ stay in Nagarkot would contribute to the success of the tourism campaign.
The meeting, chaired by Mayors’ Forum President Chiribabu Maharjan, was attended by mayors and deputy mayors from the Kathmandu Valley. A documentary prepared by Changunarayan Municipality was showcased, and Kirtipur Municipality Mayor Krishna Man Dangol was welcomed to the meeting for the first time.
