In a significant initiative to support cancer patients, Yeti Airlines Pvt. Ltd. has partnered with Purbanchal Cancer Hospital to provide free air tickets for patients traveling for treatment. The agreement was officially signed on Saturday by Yeti Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer Yubaraj Bista and Purbanchal Cancer Hospital Chair Durga Prasai.
Dr. Birendra Yadav, Medical Superintendent of Purbanchal Cancer Hospital, emphasized that this facility will ease the burden on cancer patients who need to travel long distances for treatment. Located in Birtamod, the 100-bed hospital has been providing cancer care for the past five years, offering advanced treatment options such as PET-CT scans, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and surgical procedures.
According to Pramish Giri, Public Relations Officer of the hospital, the free air ticket facility will be available to cancer patients from any part of Nepal. Each patient can avail the service once, covering both their journey to the hospital and their return home.
Since its establishment, Purbanchal Cancer Hospital has treated 6,484 cancer patients. Among newly diagnosed cases in the past five years, breast cancer (814 cases) and lung cancer (805 cases) were the most common, followed by cervical cancer and ENT (ear, nose, and throat) cancers.
Additionally, under the government’s Poor Citizen Medical Treatment Program, economically disadvantaged patients at the hospital can receive free treatment worth up to NPR 100,000.
This partnership between Yeti Airlines and Purbanchal Cancer Hospital marks a crucial step in making cancer treatment more accessible for patients across Nepal.
