The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) distributed relief to 64 households in Jomsom affected by crop damage caused by Himalayan black bears. The aid distribution took place on Kartik 28 and 29, covering families from several villages that experienced significant maize crop losses due to bear incursions.

The distribution was organized by the Conservation Area Management Subcommittees under the jurisdiction of ACAP’s Kunjo and Lete area offices. Specifically, 60 households from Chhyo, Deurali, Taglung, Kunjo, and Titi villages received relief on Kartik 28, while an additional 4 households from Dhampu village received assistance on Kartik 29.
The relief distribution event saw the presence of local government representatives, ACAP staff, committee members, and local community leaders working together to support residents impacted by wildlife in this high-altitude conservation area. The initiative underscores ACAP’s commitment to assisting communities facing the challenges of human-wildlife conflict in ecologically sensitive regions.
