The sacred doors of the Kedarnath Temple, one of Hinduism’s most revered pilgrimage sites, were officially reopened on Friday morning at 7 a.m. amidst Vedic chants and the melodious tunes of the Indian Army’s Grenadiers Regiment band. The ceremonial reopening was marked by spiritual fervor and grandeur, with a special highlight being a floral shower from a helicopter, symbolizing divine blessings. The temple’s southern main gate was also opened simultaneously.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was present during the auspicious occasion, underscoring the temple’s religious and cultural significance. With this, the temple is now open to devotees for the summer pilgrimage season, which typically lasts around six months before closing again during the harsh winter.
Situated in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, Kedarnath is nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas at an altitude of 3,584 meters above sea level. It is recognized as one of the four sacred Char Dhams of Hinduism and is home to the highest among the twelve Jyotirlingas mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures. The reopening marks the beginning of the annual pilgrimage season, attracting thousands of devotees and spiritual seekers from across the country and beyond.
