Heavy snowfall has covered several parts of Mustang district from early morning today, affecting normal life and transportation in the mountainous region. The snowfall has significantly disrupted vehicular movement along the Charang–Lho Manthang road section, authorities confirmed.
Road Disruption Due to Snowfall
Tshiring Kippa Lama, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the District Police Office, Mustang, reported that heavy snow from Thurlungphant to Lho Manthang has created obstacles for vehicles. “The area has witnessed massive snowfall, which has blocked roads and hindered mobility,” DSP Lama stated.
Security personnel stationed at the Border Out Post in Nhechung, Lho Manthang, worked to clear the Chhoser–Korala road section on Tuesday, ensuring accessibility. Meanwhile, the previously blocked Kagbeni–Muktinath road section has now reopened following clearance operations.
