A delegation from the Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) met with the Director General (DG) of the Department of Tourism (DoT) today and formally submitted a memorandum outlining several key issues requiring government intervention and facilitation.
Memorandum Submitted to DoT
During the meeting held at the DG’s chamber, HAN President Binayak Shah, accompanied by Secretary General Sajan Shakya and Treasurer Youb Raj Shrestha, presented a detailed memorandum addressing policy-level and operational challenges affecting Nepal’s hotel and hospitality sector. The document included requests related to regulatory reforms, streamlined procedures, and enhanced departmental cooperation to support the industry’s growth and post-pandemic recovery.
HAN Extends Best Wishes to Newly Appointed DG
On the occasion, the Hotel Association Nepal delegation also extended best wishes to the newly appointed Director General, expressing confidence in his leadership. They wished him a fruitful and effective tenure, emphasizing that strengthened coordination between the government and private sector is crucial for uplifting the tourism industry.
Discussion on Sectoral Challenges
In the meeting, Hotel Association Nepal representatives raised concerns over various challenges faced by hotels across the country. These included administrative hurdles, compliance complexities, licensing-related issues, and the need for supportive tourism policies. They urged the department for constructive and timely facilitation to create a more conducive environment for hospitality businesses.
DoT’s Commitment to Support
Responding to the delegation, the Director General expressed his full commitment to cooperating with HAN. He assured that the department would play a positive, constructive, and facilitative role in addressing the issues highlighted in the memorandum. The DG also emphasized the importance of continuous coordination with HAN for strengthening Nepal’s tourism ecosystem.
