CG Hospitality Begins Construction of Luxury Heritage ‘Summit Hotel’ in Gorkha

In a significant boost to Nepal’s high-end tourism and hospitality sector, CG Hospitality, a subsidiary of the Chaudhary Group, has officially laid the foundation stone for the construction of the luxury heritage ‘Summit Hotel’ in Gorkha. The project aims to position the historic district as an international luxury tourism destination by blending cultural heritage with premium hospitality services.

Inspired by Kathmandu’s Iconic Hospitality Legacy

The upcoming project draws inspiration from the renowned Summit Hotel Kathmandu, which has long been recognized as one of Nepal’s landmark hospitality establishments since its establishment in 1978. According to CG Hospitality, the Gorkha property will be developed as a luxury heritage resort that combines modern comfort with authentic Nepali architecture, traditions, and cultural aesthetics. The initiative reflects a growing trend in Nepal’s tourism industry toward experiential and heritage-based luxury tourism, targeting high-value travelers seeking culturally immersive experiences.

Strategic Location Near Gorkha Durbar

Spanning approximately 30 ropanis of land, the project is expected to be completed and operational within 24 months. The hotel will feature around 30 premium rooms, with expected rates of approximately USD 500 per night, positioning it firmly in the luxury segment of Nepal’s hospitality market.

Located near the historically significant Gorkha Durbar, the property is expected to strengthen Gorkha’s identity as a cultural and historical tourism hub. Gorkha holds immense national importance as the birthplace of King Prithvi Narayan Shah, who initiated the unification of Nepal, making it one of the most symbolic destinations in the country.

Vision to Integrate Gorkha into Luxury Tourism Circuit

CG Hospitality stated that the core objective of the project is to integrate Gorkha into Nepal’s luxury tourism circuit, which has traditionally been concentrated in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara. By introducing high-end accommodation in Gorkha, CG Hospitality aims to extend tourist stays and encourage exploration of Nepal’s historical heartland. The project is also expected to promote Nepal’s heritage, culture, and historical legacy on the international stage, offering visitors a deeper understanding of the country’s origins and identity.

Leadership Commitment and Tourism Vision

Speaking on the occasion, Rahul Chaudhary, Managing Director and CEO of CG Hospitality Global, described the project as a continuation of the group’s long-standing commitment to Nepal’s tourism development.

He emphasized that Gorkha represents a crucial part of Nepal’s historical narrative and said the project aims to present the region’s authenticity, culture, and heritage to both domestic and international audiences. He also reaffirmed the group’s commitment to supporting government efforts to strengthen Nepal’s economy through tourism-led growth.

Economic Impact and Local Development

The ‘Summit Revisited’ hotel is expected to generate significant employment opportunities in the Gorkha region, directly benefiting local communities through jobs in hospitality, construction, and tourism services. In addition, the project is anticipated to stimulate local businesses, strengthen supply chains, and attract further private investment into the region. Officials believe that the development will catalyze broader regional growth, positioning Gorkha as a key destination within Nepal’s expanding tourism map.

Expansion of CG Hospitality’s Global Portfolio

Just days before the Gorkha project launch, CG Hospitality had also laid the foundation stone for another luxury project, The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu in Thamel, in partnership with global hospitality giant Marriott International. This reflects the company’s rapid expansion in Nepal’s luxury hospitality segment.

CG Hospitality Global currently operates more than 230 hotels and resorts across 130 destinations in 12 countries, with a combined capacity exceeding 15,000 rooms. The company continues to strengthen its global presence through partnerships with leading international hospitality brands.

Chaudhary Group’s National Contribution

Gorkha Set for Luxury Tourism Transformation

With the launch of the Summit Hotel project, Gorkha is expected to undergo a major transformation into a luxury heritage tourism destination, combining history, culture, and premium hospitality. Once completed, the project is anticipated to enhance Nepal’s global tourism appeal while reinforcing Gorkha’s identity as the birthplace of modern Nepal.
