The Hotel Association Pokhara Nepal has contributed to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund as part of the hospitality sector’s response to the recent disaster situation in Nepal. The association contributed NPR 200,000, while Barahi Hospitality contributed NPR 2.055 million, with additional contributions from other hotels bringing the total amount represented by the submitted voucher to NPR 2,935,833.
The contribution was formally communicated to Kaski Chief District Officer Kuman Singh Gurung on Wednesday after a delegation led by association president Laxman Subedi reached the District Administration Office in Kaski. The association also provided information about a separate NPR 1 million contribution from Mountain Trust, highlighting the wider involvement of organizations connected to the hospitality and tourism sector.
Hotel Contributions Cross NPR 4 Million
According to President Subedi, hotels affiliated with the association had already made voluntary contributions toward disaster relief before the latest submission. With those earlier contributions included, the total support from hotels has now exceeded NPR 4 million, demonstrating continued participation from Pokhara’s hospitality businesses in relief efforts.
Subedi said contributions from hotels and other supporters were still coming in and that the association intended to continue the initiative in the future. The response reflects the willingness of businesses within Pokhara’s tourism industry to contribute beyond their commercial activities during a period when communities across the country are facing the effects of natural disasters.
Hospitality Industry Supports Wider Relief Efforts
The contribution also highlights the role of Nepal’s tourism and hospitality businesses in supporting communities during times of crisis. Pokhara is one of the country’s major tourism centers, and its hotel industry includes a large network of businesses that depend on domestic and international visitor activity. Chief District Officer Gurung praised the contribution from the association, hotels, and other organizations.
