Qatar Airways to Launch Western Sydney Flights in December 2027

Qatar Airways plans to launch direct passenger flights between Hamad International Airport in Doha and Western Sydney International Airport on December 15, 2027, expanding its presence in the Australian market. The new service will initially operate three times a week, offering travellers another gateway to Sydney, and additional connections through the airline’s Doha hub.

Western Sydney will become Qatar Airways’ seventh Australian destination, joining Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra. The expansion reflects the airline’s continued focus on strengthening its Australian network and connecting the country with destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and other international markets.

Three Weekly Flights to Begin in December 2027

The new route will initially be served by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, with flights operating three times a week in each direction. Qatar Airways plans to offer the service on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from Doha, with return flights departing Western Sydney on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The airline intends to progressively increase the service to daily operations, subject to its expansion plans. Bookings are scheduled to open on December 19, 2026, ahead of the route’s launch the following year, giving travellers time to plan future journeys between Australia, Qatar and destinations across the airline’s international network.

Premium Onboard Services for Travellers

Passengers travelling on the new route will have access to Qatar Airways’ Boeing 777-300ER cabin configuration, featuring 42 Business Class seats and 312 Economy Class seats. The aircraft will offer the airline’s Qsuite Business Class product, which is designed to provide a premium travel experience for passengers on long haul journeys.

The service will also feature complimentary Starlink Wi Fi, allowing passengers to access high speed internet connectivity during their flights. The onboard offering is intended to enhance the travel experience for both business and leisure travellers using Western Sydney as an international departure or arrival point.

New Gateway Supports Tourism and Trade

Western Sydney International Airport’s ability to operate around the clock is expected to support additional international flight options and provide greater scheduling flexibility. Qatar Airways’ arrival will connect the region directly with Doha, allowing passengers to transfer onward to destinations throughout the airline’s global network.

The new service could also create opportunities for tourism, business travel and air cargo between Australia, Qatar and other international markets. As Western Sydney International develops its route network, the addition of a major international carrier is expected to expand travel choices for residents and visitors while strengthening the region’s connections with the wider world.
