Airline operators held a crucial meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to discuss pressing issues in the aviation sector. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s office in Singha Durbar, where the operators presented their challenges and sought the government’s support in resolving them.
Manoj Karki, Chairman of the Airline Operators’ Association, informed that the discussion centered on the operation of air services in Nepal and the difficulties the sector is currently facing.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the importance of enhancing air safety and urged the operators to take necessary measures in this regard. He also inquired about strategies to remove Nepal from the European Union’s aviation blacklist and addressed the issue of ‘dollar fare,’ questioning how it could be eliminated to make air travel more accessible.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to improving air safety and highlighted ongoing initiatives, including the introduction of a bill aimed at splitting the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) to facilitate policy and structural reforms in the aviation sector.
Chief Secretary Leela Devi Gadtaula was also present at the meeting, underscoring the government’s focus on addressing the challenges within the aviation industry.
