Tanahun

A new campaign titled ‘Visit Bandipur 2025’ has been launched to promote Bandipur, a popular tourist town in Tanahun, both domestically and internationally. The campaign was officially announced on Friday during a special event held in Bandipur to celebrate World Tourism Day.

The campaign was inaugurated by Gandaki Province’s Minister for Agriculture, Land Management, and Cooperatives, Padma G.C. Shrestha, alongside the Chairperson of Bandipur Rural Municipality, Surendra Thapa.

Minister Shrestha emphasized Bandipur’s significant contribution to promoting tourism in Gandaki Province. She noted that tourists are drawn to the town due to its rich art, culture, and traditions. She urged the local authorities to preserve Bandipur’s originality, stating, “Bandipur should be developed as a unique town, and the provincial government is ready to support this endeavor.”

Chairperson Thapa explained that the campaign aims to further enhance Bandipur’s tourism potential. “The main goal is to promote the beauty of Bandipur both nationally and internationally,” he said. Thapa added that 2025 will be celebrated as a “Visit Year” for Bandipur, with various programs throughout the year to promote tourism.

As part of the campaign, promotional activities will be conducted in major cities such as Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, and Lumbini, showcasing Bandipur as a key tourist destination. Thapa shared that Bandipur’s tourism strategy is designed to attract a larger number of visitors, with plans to introduce adventure sports like paragliding and zip-lining, subject to feasibility studies.

Bandipur Rural Municipality has already prepared tourism materials in nine languages—Nepali, Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Spanish, Sinhala, and Thai—to provide essential information to international visitors. Thapa highlighted the importance of catering to foreign tourists, ensuring that information about the town’s attractions is easily accessible.

The municipality has listed several key tourist destinations, including Khadga Devi Temple, Thani Mai Temple, Mahalaxmi Temple, Siddha Cave, Mani Mukundsen Footpath (Mini Great Wall), Tindhara Waterfall, Tundikhel, Mani Mukundsen Durbar, and Padma Library. These locations will be focal points for tourism development, while the Bandipur Tourism Development Committee noted that tourists from Japan, China, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, France, the USA, and several other countries regularly visit the town.

Bandipur, known for its traditional Bhaktapur-style houses, Tundikhel, Thani Mai, Tindhara, Rani Ban, Ramkot, and various temples, continues to be a major attraction for visitors. Its proximity to natural beauty allows tourists to enjoy stunning views of the Annapurna, Machapuchare, and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges, making it a picturesque destination. Situated just 18 kilometers from Damouli and eight kilometers uphill from Dumre, Bandipur offers a unique blend of cultural heritage and natural splendor, captivating the hearts of all who visit.

With the ‘Visit Bandipur 2025’ campaign, local authorities hope to further establish Bandipur as a leading tourist hub in Nepal, focusing on both its natural beauty and cultural richness.
