Over 100,000 Foreign Tourists Visit Mustang in the Past Nine Months

In the past nine months, Mustang has welcomed 105,698 foreign tourists, according to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project’s (ACAP) area conservation office. This influx includes 90,081 tourists from SAARC countries and 15,617 from non-SAARC nations, as of October 6, 2024.

In comparison, Mustang saw a total of 121,352 visitors throughout 2023. Just last week alone, 2,896 tourists entered the region. Notably, 8,397 trekkers passed through Manang, crossing the 5,416-meter Thorong La Pass to reach Mustang.

Mustang’s iconic destinations such as Muktinath Temple, Kagbeni, Korla Border, Lo Manthang, Sinja Jong Cave, Jomsom, Dhumba Lake, Thini, Marpha, and Lete have all seen an increase in tourist activity. These sites, rich in cultural and natural beauty, continue to draw both domestic and international travelers, contributing to the region’s growing popularity as a top trekking and pilgrimage destination.
