NTNC ACAP Sikles Hosts Herder Awareness Program for Wildlife and Forest Conservation

The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), under the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC), recently conducted a day-long Herder Awareness Program in Sikles. This event aimed to encourage local herders to actively participate in biodiversity conservation, anti-poaching efforts, and forest fire prevention.

The program brought together local herders and conservation experts, fostering a collaborative approach toward safeguarding the unique ecosystem of the Sikles area. In recognition of their role in conservation, herders were provided with solar lights, an initiative to support their work while reducing reliance on firewood.

The event emphasized the importance of preserving local wildlife and the natural habitat, educating participants on sustainable practices that benefit both the environment and local communities. NTNC ACAP officials expressed gratitude to all attendees for their engagement and willingness to share insights on protecting wildlife, preventing forest fires, and conserving the area’s forests.

NTNC ACAP remains committed to ongoing collaboration with local communities to ensure a sustainable future for the Annapurna region’s natural and cultural heritage.
