Awareness Workshop on Wildlife Crime Prevention Held in Mustang

On Mangsir 14, 2081, the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC), Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) – Jomsom Office, organized a workshop titled “Awareness on Wildlife Crime and Poaching Control” at the District Coordination Committee (DCC) Hall in Mustang.

The event saw the participation of key stakeholders, including the Deputy Chief of the District Coordination Committee, the Chief of the Division Forest Office Mustang, representatives from the District Police Office, officials from the Conservation Area Management Committee, in-charge officers from police posts, and checkpoints spanning from Ghasa to Muktinath, and forest rangers working within the committee.

The workshop delved into the past and present status of wildlife-related crimes, including illegal poaching, unauthorized collection of forest resources, and their transportation and sale. The discussions also focused on formulating future strategies to eradicate such activities.

To facilitate regular forest patrolling and motivate conservation efforts, the ACAP Jomsom Office has been annually providing essential field equipment to forest rangers. Continuing this tradition, this year, each ranger received a trekking bag and a flashlight to aid their conservation activities. This initiative reflects the commitment to preserving wildlife and controlling illegal activities in the Annapurna Conservation Area, ensuring sustainable environmental stewardship for future generations.
