International Visitor Arrivals For March 2025 Show Strong Recovery

In March 2025, Nepal welcomed 121,687 International Visitor Arrivals (IVAs), reaching 95% of the figures from March 2024. This marks a 95.6% recovery compared to pre-pandemic levels in March 2019.

The total International Visitor Arrivals (IVAs) for the first three months of 2025 (January to March) reached 298,558. This figure highlights a steady influx of international tourists into the country. For March 2025, the top five tourist-generating markets were led by India, contributing 21,412 visitors, which accounts for 17.6% of the total arrivals.

China followed with 11,443 visitors, representing 9.4% of the total, while the USA came in third with 11,092 visitors, making up 9.1%. Sri Lanka contributed 8,886 visitors (7.3%), and the UK rounded out the top five with 5,995 visitors, accounting for 5.2%. These figures reflect the ongoing appeal of Nepal as a key destination for international travelers, with neighboring countries playing a significant role in the tourism sector.

In March 2025, the distribution of International Visitor Arrivals (IVAs) across regions reveals varying trends. South Asia, which includes the SAARC countries, accounted for the largest share, with 35,287 IVAs, making up 29% of the total. Asia, excluding South Asia, followed closely with 31,351 IVAs, representing 25.8% of the arrivals.

Europe recorded a significant portion, with 25,468 IVAs, contributing 21.4% to the total. In Oceania, 4,643 IVAs were registered, accounting for 3.8%. The Americas had 13,907 IVAs, which made up 11.4% of the total. The Middle East saw 2,732 IVAs, amounting to 2.2%, while Africa recorded the least with just 368 IVAs, or 0.3%. Additionally, 7,657 IVAs, or 6.3%, were categorized under others. These figures highlight the diverse regional contributions to international tourism during the period.
