Chand further emphasized the historical and religious significance of the temple, stating, “Behdaba Temple is not just a spiritual center of Sudurpaschim but is recognized as a national heritage. Legend has it that the temple was established after the spontaneous emergence of a Shivalinga in ancient times. It is widely believed that prayers and worship at this temple fulfill devotees’ wishes.”

According to traditional beliefs, visiting Behdaba Temple is said to bless childless couples with children, relieve people from obstacles, and provide strength and spiritual peace. In support of the influx of pilgrims, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City has carried out road maintenance, installed lights, and managed other essential infrastructures to ensure convenience for worshippers.

Thousands of devotees from neighboring India have also flocked to the temple today. Chairperson Chand mentioned, “Many pilgrims from Indian regions such as Lakhimpur, Palia, Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand visit Behdaba Temple each year. They even donate the grains they produce to the temple as part of their devotion.”

The temple management committee estimates that offerings from devotees during this festival will amount to approximately NPR 300,000 to NPR 500,000. To enhance the festive atmosphere, a local fair has also been organized near the temple premises. The fair features stalls operated by both Nepali and Indian vendors, adding a commercial and cultural vibrancy to the religious event.

Mayor of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City, Gopal Hamal, stated that Ganga Dashahara is regarded as a major cultural and religious celebration in the region. Consequently, the local government has declared a public holiday today in observance of the festival. He also informed that free bus services were operated from the banks of the Shivaganga River to the temple from midnight until 6 PM for the convenience of devotees. Mayor Hamal added that several social organizations have provided free meals, snacks (bhandara), and drinking water for pilgrims visiting the temple on this auspicious day.
