Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has expressed a firm commitment to reform Nepal Airlines. Speaking at the meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee held at Singha Durbar on Thursday, Minister Pandey assured that he would not rest until significant improvements are achieved in Nepal Airlines.
Minister Pandey emphasized the need for collective effort from the committee, parliamentarians, and the government to address the challenges facing Nepal Airlines. He highlighted the importance of identifying issues and implementing essential reforms, including strengthening the relationship between the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and Nepal Airlines.
“Both CAAN and Nepal Airlines are service providers, and coordination and collaboration between the two are essential. Without mutual cooperation and sincerity, achieving desired results is impossible,” said Minister Pandey. He further stated, “In the coming days, we will engage in more outcome-driven discussions to ensure progress. I will not take a break until Nepal Airlines is thoroughly reformed.”
The minister also emphasized the untapped potential of the aviation sector in Nepal, noting that its scope remains expansive. According to him, if Nepal Airlines can enhance its services, there will be no shortage of passengers.
He underlined the importance of increasing the number of aircraft alongside expanding airport infrastructure. Additionally, he stressed the necessity of constructing airports capable of accommodating large aircraft in mountainous regions such as Karnali, Koshi, and Gandaki.
Minister Pandey’s remarks have instilled hope for a revitalized Nepal Airlines and a stronger aviation sector that can cater to both domestic and international travelers efficiently.
