President Ramchandra Paudel Highlights the Importance of Language, Literature, and Culture at National Poetry Festival

President Ramchandra Paudel emphasized the significance of language, literature, and culture as the pride and identity of Nepal, a country marked by linguistic and cultural diversity, during a ceremony held at the Office of the President, Sheetal Niwas.

The event, organized by the Nepal Academy, celebrated the 67th anniversary of the Academy and included the presentation of awards for the National Poetry Festival, 2081 BS.

In his address, President Paudel stressed the importance of preserving the language, literature, culture, and knowledge that have originated in Nepal. “These assets are essential for humanity and must be safeguarded,” he stated. He also underscored that literature and arts are powerful mediums for expressing human emotions, sentiments, and identities.

The President acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Nepal Academy in the promotion and preservation of these cultural and intellectual treasures. He expressed his hope that future national poetry festivals will be held in all of the mother tongues spoken across the country, reflecting Nepal’s rich linguistic heritage.

The event concluded with the awarding of winners from the national poetry competition, celebrating the creative talents of Nepali poets.
