Exciting Street Food Festival Kicks Off in Dolakha with the Theme ‘Let’s Eat on the Street, Rejoice on the Street

A vibrant street food festival titled ‘सडकमा खाऊँ, सडकमै रमाऊँ’ (Let’s Eat on the Street, Rejoice on the Street) has officially kicked off in Dolakha from today. The three-day festival was inaugurated by Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Mr. Badri Pandey, amidst a grand ceremony attended by local residents, business owners, and tourism stakeholders.

During the inauguration, Minister Pandey highlighted Nepal’s multilingual, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-religious identity, emphasizing how such diversity contributes to the country’s unique image on the global stage. He stated that events like this festival not only promote internal tourism but also play a vital role in attracting international tourists.

“The government is committed to the sustainable development of the nation and views the tourism sector as a key priority, especially due to its potential for foreign currency earnings,” Minister Pandey remarked. He expressed optimism that such local-level initiatives can significantly boost economic activities and foster cultural exchange.

The festival has been jointly organized by the Dolakha Chamber of Commerce and the Hotel and Tourism Entrepreneurs’ Association. The event aims to promote the culinary heritage of the region while also providing a platform for local businesses, especially those engaged in street food and hospitality, to showcase their offerings.

A wide variety of traditional and modern street food stalls have been set up, offering visitors a delightful gastronomic experience. The festival venue has also incorporated cultural performances, live music, and local crafts, making it a festive attraction for families, food lovers, and tourists alike.

Organizers expect the festival to draw large crowds over the next three days, fostering community engagement and enhancing Dolakha’s position as an emerging destination for gastronomic and cultural tourism. The street food festival will continue until April 15, with daily programs aimed at celebrating local flavors, traditions, and hospitality.
