The Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) Gandaki has submitted a seven-point recommendation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighting the vital role of foreign diplomatic missions in promoting Nepal’s tourism, export trade, and investment.
Under the leadership of Krishna Prasad Acharya, President of TAAN Gandaki, the team emphasized the importance of strategic planning to promote Nepal’s natural, cultural, and adventure tourism at the international level. The association urged that tourism promotion programs be implemented in collaboration and coordination with foreign diplomatic missions.
TAAN Gandaki recommended inviting international media and tourism professionals on the occasion of mountaineering days for major peaks like Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Everest. This initiative would showcase the significance of Nepal’s trekking sector to the global audience.
Furthermore, the association suggested that high-quality brochures, videos, and digital content promoting Nepal be created and distributed through diplomatic missions worldwide, ensuring that stakeholders across the globe have access to valuable promotional materials.
The recommendation also pointed out the need for active participation of heads of foreign diplomatic missions in major festivals, mountaineering days, and tourism promotion programs held in Nepal. Special efforts should be made to engage them in such events.
Highlighting the necessity of strong coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nepal Tourism Board, TAAN Gandaki proposed the establishment of a Tourism Promotion Center to effectively advance Nepal’s tourism on the international stage.
To attract foreign investment in the tourism sector, TAAN Gandaki suggested running special campaigns, alongside efforts to introduce Nepali handicrafts and agricultural products to international markets.
Reflecting on past collaborations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nepal Tourism Board, TAAN Gandaki expressed its commitment to continuing this partnership and furthering tourism promotion initiatives in the future.
