Tourists Flock to Gaikhure Waterfall in Besisahar

The mesmerizing sight of Gaikhure Waterfall, with its cascading water from a height of over 80 meters, lush greenery, and a picturesque pond at its base, draws a large number of tourists every day. The breathtaking view of the waterfall is irresistible, prompting visitors to capture selfies and swim in the cool waters.

Located near the Dumre-Besisahar road and close to the Marsyangdi River, Gaikhure Waterfall is easily accessible. Situated in Dalal, Besisahar Municipality-1, the waterfall attracts over 200 tourists daily, with numbers doubling on Fridays, Saturdays, and holidays. According to resident Sudip Pant, visitors come from various districts, including Lamjung, Gorkha, Tanahun, Kaski, and Manang, to enjoy the waterfall.

In a district with limited entertainment options, Gaikhure Waterfall serves as a popular recreational spot. Tourists delight in splashing water at each other and swimming in the pond like fish. Angel Gurung, a resident of Besisahar Municipality-8, mentioned that taking photos and enjoying the coolness of the waterfall is a delightful experience. Another tourist shared their enjoyment of taking photos, swimming, and having fun with friends at the waterfall.

Despite its popularity, Gaikhure Waterfall lacks proper infrastructure and management. Local authorities recall that in the past, even foreign tourists visited the site. The waterfall and pond not only offer a scenic spot for swimming but also hold potential for adventurous activities like canyoning.

Ward Chairman Durgabahadur Budhathoki of Besisahar Municipality-1 noted the current influx of tourists and expressed regret over the lack of proper management. He mentioned that plans are underway to develop infrastructure and enhance the site’s appeal to attract more tourists.

The municipality is committed to organizing the waterfall area and making it a central attraction, aiming to improve facilities and draw even more visitors in the future.
