Participants Run with Domingo Hernandez Fighting Bulls in San Fermin Festival

Throngs of participants joined Domingo Hernandez in the fifth bull run of the renowned San Fermin festival. This event, steeped in tradition and dating back to medieval times, drew crowds to the narrow streets of northern Spain’s Pamplona.

Every day at 8 am, hundreds of adrenaline-fueled runners race alongside six bulls and six steers over a winding 848.6-meter (more than half a mile) course. The route, which snakes through the city’s narrow streets, culminates in the city’s bullring. Here, the bulls will face matadors in evening bullfights or ‘corridas,’ a controversial spectacle that has been a staple of the festival for centuries.

The San Fermin festival is not just about the thrilling bull runs. It also features a variety of cultural events, including religious processions, folk dancing, concerts, and round-the-clock drinking, attracting both locals and tourists from around the globe.

This year’s run with Domingo Hernandez fighting bulls added an extra layer of excitement and challenge, as participants navigated the treacherous course in the heart of Pamplona’s old town. Despite the risks, the event continues to captivate audiences, maintaining its status as a key highlight of the San Fermin festival.
