An avalanche in the Manapani Himal of the Dhaulagiri mountain range has prompted the evacuation of nine families in Thasang Rural Municipality-2. The incident, which occurred on Friday afternoon, has raised concerns about safety in the area.
District Police Office Mustang’s DSP Bhojraj Pandey confirmed the evacuation, stating that the families were moved to a safer location as a precautionary measure. “We have advised caution and relocated the nine families from the high-risk area,” DSP Pandey told Online Khabar.
The avalanche temporarily blocked the flow of the Boksi Khola, a local river, but the situation has since improved. “The water flow in Boksi Khola is gradually returning to normal,” DSP Pandey reported. “While the initial blockage caused concern, the current water flow does not pose significant risk.” The Boksi Khola eventually merges with the Kali Gandaki River.
Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of the residents and to prevent any further incidents.
