The government is committed to actively engaging in the development and promotion of Nepal’s tourism sector by expanding partnerships with the private sector, according to Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey. Speaking at the 46th Annual General Meeting of the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), Minister Pandey emphasized the indispensable role of the private sector in advancing culture, tourism, and civil aviation.
“The ministry is fully prepared to collaborate with the private sector for the growth of the tourism industry,” Minister Pandey stated. He highlighted the importance of an effective civil aviation sector to support tourism development, ensuring that the necessary infrastructure and services are in place to meet the growing demands of international and domestic tourists.
Minister Pandey also revealed that the government is currently revising key policies related to tourism development, culture, and aviation. A significant legislative effort, aimed at separating regulatory and service provider agencies, has already progressed to the Law Ministry after review by the Finance Ministry. This move is expected to streamline operations and enhance the overall efficiency of the tourism sector.
State Minister for Tourism, Arun Kumar Chaudhary, echoed the importance of coordination and collaboration among stakeholders to drive tourism development. He emphasized that a unified approach is essential to harness the full potential of Nepal’s diverse attractions.
TAAN President Nilhari Bastola also addressed the gathering, underscoring the need for the conservation and promotion of trekking routes across the country. He called for efforts to make TAAN more business-friendly to support the growth of the trekking industry.
The AGM, which will also see the election of a new executive committee, has drawn 1,397 voters who will play a role in shaping the future direction of the association and its initiatives.
This renewed focus on public-private partnerships and policy reforms signals a proactive approach by the government to bolster Nepal’s tourism sector, ensuring its sustainable growth and long-term success.
