The Behdaba Temple in Ramapur, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-16, witnessed a significant influx of Indian devotees during the Ganga Dussehra festival, held from June 15 to 19. More than 100,000 pilgrims attended the religious fair, with the total number of Indian visitors reaching approximately 150,000, as reported by Padamraj Joshi, chairman of the Behdaba Temple Management Committee.
Historically, Behdaba Temple has been a pivotal site for pilgrimages, especially during festivals such as Ganga Dussehra and Maha Shivaratri. This year marked a resurgence in the number of Indian devotees, a notable increase compared to the years following the political movement of 2005/06.
The fair attracts devotees from various parts of India, including regions like Lakhimpur, Palia, Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Pilgrims hold a strong belief that visiting the Behdaba Temple during these auspicious occasions brings mental peace and fulfills their desires.
In addition to the spiritual activities, the fair provided free food and water to all attendees, enhancing the overall experience for the devotees. The event also featured around 400 commercial stalls, contributing to the vibrant and bustling atmosphere of the festival.
