The Embassy of Nepal in Qatar commemorated the 2570th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha by organizing a special program in Doha on Friday. The event, held at the embassy premises, focused on the teachings of Lord Buddha as a guiding force for peace and harmony. The program was jointly organized in collaboration with the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), bringing together members of the Nepali diaspora and community leaders in Qatar.

Addressing the gathering, Charge D’Affaires Kumar Rai emphasized the importance of both spiritual and mental cleanliness in achieving lasting peace. He noted that the teachings of Buddha remain highly relevant in today’s world, offering a path toward harmony, compassion, and coexistence.

Meanwhile, the Federation of Nepali Indigenous Nationalities also organized a Buddha Jayanti program in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. The program featured a special Buddhist puja and group meditation session led by a Buddhist guru, creating a serene environment for reflection and devotion.

During the Lisbon event, Guru Phuri Sherpa spoke about Buddha’s contributions to peace and knowledge, underscoring the universal relevance of his teachings. Nepali Ambassador to Portugal, Prakash Mani Paudel, stated that the values and principles taught by Buddha remain eternal and continue to guide humanity toward welfare and enlightenment.

Organizers noted that such international observances of Buddha Jayanti play a vital role in promoting Nepal’s identity as the birthplace of Lord Buddha and a global center of peace.
