TAAN Gandaki Champions Safety Innovation with High-Altitude Oxygen Masks

On Saturday, November 16, 2024 (Mangsir 1, 2081), the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), Gandaki Chapter, held an informal meeting and discussion session at its office under the leadership of its president, Mr. Krishna Prasad Acharya. The event brought together notable representatives from the tourism and mountaineering sectors to explore the potential benefits of “Oxygen-Generating Masks” for high-altitude areas.

Key participants included Mr. Gwangho Ha, the Director of Korea’s government-recognized company “INN & GH Co. Ltd.,” renowned Korean mountaineer and “14 Peaks” climber Mr. Kim Mi Gon, and Mr. Wanchu Sherpa, the Director of Trekking Camp Nepal Pvt. Ltd. The session also saw active involvement from all TAAN Gandaki officials and executive members.

During the discussion, TAAN Gandaki President Mr. Krishna Prasad Acharya emphasized the critical importance of these oxygen-generating masks for trekkers, guides, and porters operating in high-altitude regions. He expressed gratitude to the visiting delegates for introducing this innovative solution, which could significantly enhance safety and comfort during high-altitude expeditions.

To further promote the use of these masks, TAAN Gandaki plans to organize a one-day “Mask Demonstration and Information Program.” The event will be open to all TAAN members, industry leaders, tourism entrepreneurs, and workers, aiming to provide hands-on experience and education about the masks’ application in the field.

This initiative is expected to be a game-changer for high-altitude tourism, ensuring better preparedness and safety for everyone involved in the trekking and mountaineering industry.
