The Nepal Mountain Leader Association (NMLA) has extended warm congratulations and best wishes to its President Dawa Tashi Sherpa and Secretary Diki Sherpa following their election to the executive committee of the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA).
According to the association, the felicitation was organized to honor their achievement and to acknowledge their continued contribution to the mountaineering sector. Both leaders have been active in promoting Nepal’s mountain tourism, advocating for the welfare of mountaineers, and preserving the country’s Himalayan heritage.
In the recently concluded NMA election held on Bhadra 7 at the Nepal Academy, Diki Sherpa was elected as a General Member, while Dawa Tashi Sherpa secured victory as a Book Holder Member. Alongside their new roles in NMA, Dawa Tashi Sherpa currently serves as President of the Nepal Mountain Leader Association (NMLA), and Diki Sherpa serves as its Secretary. The election also resulted in the selection of Phurba Gyalge Sherpa as NMA’s new President, marking the beginning of a new leadership era for the association.

Felicitation Program Organized by NMLA
Following the election, the Nepal Mountain Leader Association organized a special felicitation program to honor the achievements of its two senior office bearers. The event was hosted by Vice President Sarki Sherpa, General Secretary Mani Kumar Rai, Treasurer Dawa Chhiring Lama, along with the entire executive committee of the association.

Speaking at the program, association representatives expressed pride in their leadership and expressed confidence that their presence in NMA’s executive committee would further strengthen initiatives for mountaineers’ rights, safety standards, and sustainable mountain tourism.
Both Sherpa leaders, in their remarks, thanked the Nepal Mountain Leader Association for the recognition and assured that they would work diligently to promote Nepal as a global mountaineering destination while addressing the challenges faced by the climbing community.
The felicitation event also served as a gathering for mountaineering professionals, tourism stakeholders, and supporters to share ideas for the sector’s growth and collaboration in future projects.
