President Ram Chandra Paudel has presented the government’s Policy and Programme for the upcoming fiscal year, outlining ambitious plans to strengthen Nepal’s aviation infrastructure, modernize international airports, and improve the overall air travel experience.
Addressing a joint session of the Federal Parliament on Monday, the President read the full 46-page document, highlighting the government’s strategic focus on enhancing connectivity, tourism promotion, and aviation sector reforms.

Focus on Expanding Air Infrastructure and Reliable Services
The government has announced that aviation infrastructure expansion and the full operation and modernization of international airports will be prioritized to develop reliable, efficient, and competitive air services in Nepal.

According to the policy document, structural reforms will be introduced in the civil aviation sector to improve operational efficiency and service standards. The government also plans to increase private sector participation in aviation development while ensuring the implementation of international aviation safety standards.

Online Tourist Visa System and E-Gates Planned
To simplify travel procedures and enhance tourist convenience, the government stated that tourist visa services will be fully integrated into an online system. Additionally, an e-gate system will be installed at international airports to reduce passenger waiting times and streamline immigration processes. The move is expected to improve service delivery and align Nepal’s airports with modern international practices.

Diplomatic Efforts to Boost International Flights
The government further announced that diplomatic initiatives will be intensified to attract more international airlines to Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara International Airport.
The policy aims to increase international air connectivity and maximize the operational capacity of the country’s newly built international airports, which have so far struggled to attract sufficient international carriers.
