Employees of Nepal Airlines Corporation staged a protest on Monday morning as Executive Chairman Yuwaraj Adhikari entered the office. Demonstrators wore black armbands, expressing their grievances against what they described as injustice and discrimination within the organization.
The protestors voiced their concerns over management’s actions that they believe violate an interim order issued by the Supreme Court. They alleged that the management has retaliated against employees for fighting for justice and proceeded with actions contrary to the court’s directives.
A few months ago, the Supreme Court issued an interim order instructing the corporation to avoid discrimination among employees regarding services, benefits, and tenure. However, employees reported dissatisfaction within the ranks following allegations that the management intended to lay off cabin crew members, in defiance of the court order.
Seventeen cabin crew members had previously approached the Supreme Court, claiming injustice and discrimination in their treatment. During the protest, employees also met with Tourism Minister Badri Prasad Pandey, urging him to intervene and put an end to discriminatory practices within the corporation.
