Construction and Upgradation of Road Connecting Mukti Nath and Tetan Launched in Mustang

The project to open and upgrade the road connecting Waragung-Ranipauwa to Mukti Nath-Purang-Jhong, extending to Tetan, has officially commenced.

According to Ghanashyam Magar, Information Officer at the Mustang Infrastructure Development Office, the project will involve laying asphalt using premix technology over a distance of four kilometers from Ranipauwa to Jhong and constructing a new seven-kilometer road from Jhong to Tetan.

“The contracted construction company has begun work by operating a dozer from the Tetan side to establish the track,” he said. “In the first phase of the project, we have started widening the road section from Ranipauwa to Jhong for asphalting.” The Gandaki Province government has allocated NPR 10 crores for this initiative, with a budget of NPR 1.6 crores designated for the current fiscal year, effective until Shrawan 28, 2083, as per the contract agreement.

This road serves as an alternative route for the Kaligandaki Corridor, particularly for tourists and pilgrims traveling from Kagbeni to the Mukti Nath Temple, facilitating their journey to Upper Mustang. Given the importance of this road for residents of Waragung Mukti Kshetra, Loghekar-Damodarkund, and Lomangthang municipalities, as well as for tourists and pilgrims, it has been prioritized for development.
