The Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, Mr. Toru Maeda, visited various historical and religious sites in Birgunj today as part of his official trip.
Ambassador Maeda arrived directly at Birgunj from Simara Airport in the morning. His visit included a stop at the renowned Gahawa Mai Temple, one of the city’s most significant and respected religious landmarks. Accompanied by other officials from the Japanese Embassy, the ambassador offered prayers at the temple and observed the cultural and spiritual atmosphere of the site.
According to the local administration, the ambassador’s itinerary also includes visits to other notable locations such as the Ghadiarwa Pond and the recently renovated Ghantaghar (Clock Tower) of Birgunj. These sites hold historical importance and are key elements of the city’s cultural identity.
Chief District Officer of Parsa, Mr. Ganesh Aryal, confirmed the ambassador’s visit and explained that it was part of his official engagements in the region. “We have been informed that the ambassador came to Birgunj in connection with matters related to the metropolitan city and also to observe several of its religious and cultural sites,” he stated.
Ambassador Maeda’s visit reflects the ongoing cultural and diplomatic ties between Japan and Nepal, highlighting Japan’s interest in Nepal’s heritage and local development.
