Mingma Gyalje Sherpa Receives Grand Welcome in Kathmandu After Conquering Mount Aconcagua

World-record holder and renowned mountain guide Mingma Gyalje Sherpa was warmly welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu today. The celebration marked his successful ascent of Mount Aconcagua, located in Argentina, and his return to Nepal.

The grand reception was organized by the Nepal Mountaineering Association, Nepal National Mountain Guide Association, Mount Everest Summiters Club, Rolwaling Dolakha, and Imagine Nepal Treks. Following the reception at the airport, a rally was held to escort Sherpa to Aranya Boutique Hotel, where a welcome program awaited him.

Mingma Gyalje Sherpa’s successful climb of Aconcagua, completed on Poush 13, added to his extraordinary achievement of summiting the Seven Summits—the highest peaks on each of the seven continents. Additionally, Sherpa has also skied to the South Pole, further cementing his position as a prominent mountaineer.

Earlier this year, on Ashwin 18, Mingma achieved another remarkable feat by summiting Mount Shishapangma in China without supplemental oxygen. He is recognized as the first Nepali to climb all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks without supplemental oxygen.

In addition to his mountaineering accomplishments, Mingma is an IFMGA/UIAGM certified mountain guide and the operator of Imagine Nepal Treks. His achievements continue to inspire mountaineers and adventurers around the world.
