Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has stressed the need to energize the tourism sector for national growth. During the inauguration of a grand cultural, tourism, and agricultural fair at Chakewa Bhanjyang, located at the border of Bhojpur and Khotang districts, Minister Pandey highlighted the importance of promoting the ‘Mundum Trail Visit Year 2025.’
Minister Pandey emphasized that Nepal’s culture and traditions, with their rich historical significance, must be preserved and promoted. He further noted that following the way of life and cultural practices of ancestors could greatly contribute to the promotion of tourism. Drawing attention to the neighboring countries, India and China, Minister Pandey remarked that these nations also hold a deep reverence for Nepal’s nature and culture. As a result, collaboration and coordination among the three governments are essential to foster the growth of the tourism sector.
The Minister also spoke about the potential of the Mundum Trail in opening up new opportunities for tourism and assured the government and ministry’s commitment to supporting the success of the trail’s objectives and vision. In his speech, he emphasized the need for making Nepal’s airspace safer and more dynamic to support the growing aviation sector.
Former Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, and Federal Parliament Member, Sudhan Kirati, also stressed the necessity of developing the Mundum Trail and requested Minister Pandey to allocate the necessary budget for its development.
With the goal of attracting one lakh tourists, Temkemayung Rural Municipality has announced the ‘Mundum Trail Visit Year 2025’ and planned various programs to promote tourism alongside agricultural production. The event is being organized by the Chakewa Bazaar and Urbanization Management Committee, with coordination from the Mayung Temke Salpa Silichung Tourism Promotion Center. The fair will run until the 5th of Magh and will feature a blend of cultural exhibitions and agricultural showcases, aiming to promote both tourism and local agricultural products.
