Pasang’s climbing resume is nothing short of extraordinary. He summited Everest (8,848m) in 2022, K2 (8,611m) in 2022, Kanchenjunga (8,586m) in 2022, Lhotse (8,516m) in 2023, Makalu (8,463m) in 2022, Cho Oyu (8,201m) in 2008, Dhaulagiri-I (8,167m) in 2016, Manaslu (8,163m) in 2019, Nanga Parbat (8,125m) in 2017, Annapurna-I (8,091m) in 2021, Gasherbrum-I (8,068m) in 2023, Broad Peak (8,047m) in 2024, Gasherbrum-II (8,035m) in 2019, and Shishapangma (8,013m) in 2006. Notably, Pasang has climbed some of these 8,000-meter peaks several times.
Pasang Namgel, also known as the “Himalayan Tiger,” is a legendary Nepalese climber renowned for his bravery and ferocity in the mountains. He earned his nickname from veteran Korean climbers with whom he frequently climbed. Pasang holds the distinction of being the sole Nepalese climber to have conquered Lhotse Shar, an 8,400-meter peak in the formidable Lhotse range. Moreover, he stands as the only Nepalese climber to have summited Yalung Khang (8,505m), a peak in the Kanchenjunga Himal range.
