Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Minister Badri Pandey emphasized the unparalleled contribution of Buddhists in spreading peace worldwide during the Fourth World Peace Prayer Ceremony. The event, organized by the Nepal Mountaineering Association, saw the minister lauding Buddhism’s role in fostering harmony and tranquility globally.
Minister Pandey stated that the teachings of Buddha could guide societies transitioning from materialism to a path of peace and enlightenment. He underscored Nepal’s identity as the fountainhead of peace, urging every individual globally to visit Nepal at least once in their lifetime. “We must create an environment that makes visitors return repeatedly,” Pandey added, advocating unity and reconciliation as a global family.
Highlighting Buddha’s universal message, the minister remarked, “Buddha’s teachings have spread worldwide. As we host this World Peace Prayer, we seek mental peace for humanity and solutions to the threats of climate change, striving for peace on Earth. Everyone must embrace Buddha’s teachings to uphold global peace and fraternity.”
Former State Minister for Tourism, Yankila Sherpa, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the program’s goal to promote global peace and enhance mutual brotherhood among participants.
The event coincided with the 80th birth anniversary of Guru Sharan Nath, Vajradhara Shakya Gonchema Thichen Rinpoche, marked by a longevity prayer ceremony and the Fourth World Peace Prayer. The ceremony attracted representatives from various countries, reflecting the universal appeal of Buddha’s teachings and Nepal’s cultural significance in promoting peace.
This initiative underscores Nepal’s unique role as the birthplace of Lord Buddha and a global center for peace and spirituality, further enhancing its appeal as a destination for cultural and spiritual tourism.
