Weather Alert: Light to Moderate Rainfall with Thunder Forecast Across Hilly Regions of Nepal

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a weather forecast indicating the possibility of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in various parts of the country today. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Sudurpaschim Provinces are likely to experience such weather conditions in multiple areas. Similarly, isolated places in the remaining provinces may also witness similar weather activity.

Weather Alert

In addition to rainfall and thunderstorms, there is a chance of light snowfall in one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of the country. The division attributes these weather patterns to the influence of westerly winds in combination with local air circulation. Furthermore, the partial impact of moisture-laden winds originating from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea is also contributing to the current atmospheric conditions.

As a result, the weather is expected to be partly to generally cloudy in the hilly areas of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Sudurpaschim, while the rest of the country is likely to experience mainly clear to partly cloudy skies.

The division has urged citizens, especially those residing in or traveling through the affected regions, to take necessary precautions. The combination of lightning, rain, and wind may pose potential risks to daily life, agriculture, health services, roadways, and aviation.

The advisory further emphasizes that light to moderate rainfall with lightning could occur in one or two places across all seven provinces, prompting a need for vigilance and preparedness among the general public and authorities alike.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division continues to monitor the situation and advises the public to stay updated through official channels and take timely safety measures, particularly in areas prone to landslides, slippery roads, or poor visibility due to cloud cover and precipitation.
