55,979 Tourists Visit Khumbu Region in 11 Months of Fiscal Year 2080/081

The Khumbu region has welcomed a total of 55,979 tourists during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year 2080/081, according to data from the Sagarmatha National Park.

The park’s information officer, Manoj Kumar Mandal, stated that among these tourists, 48,402 were foreign nationals, and 7,577 were Nepali. The data, covering from the last Shrawan to the end of Jestha, highlights the Khumbu region’s appeal as a prime tourist destination.

The highest number of visitors was recorded in Baisakh, with 9,976 tourists, while the lowest was in Saun, with only 208 tourists. Information officer Mandal explained that Baisakh is the peak tourist season, which accounts for the high number of visitors, whereas Saun is considered the off-season, resulting in fewer tourists.

During the 11 months of the current fiscal year, the national park collected revenue of Rs. 130,507,000 from tourists. The park charges Rs. 100 per Nepali tourist, Rs. 1,500 per tourist from SAARC countries, and Rs. 3,000 per tourist from other countries. According to the Namche office of the park, 7,577 Nepali tourists, 6,308 SAARC country tourists, and 42,094 other foreign tourists visited the Khumbu region during this period.
